Don’t forget Soylent Green! I’m 61. I saw it in the theater as a kid and it’s haunted me ever since. Silent Running - same thing, on top of breaking my heart. Those eco disaster films of the 1970s were so prescient. I knew in my gut that they were a portent of things to come.

But the most horrifying sci fi film I’ve seen in my life is a Swedish film called Aniara. It is brilliant, based on a poem of the same name written some time in the 1950s. It’s an astonishing portrayal and indictment of humanity - both in its depiction of hubris, predictability, and ultimate insignificance. Wherever we go, there we are. It’s a must-see for any sci fi fan. I watched it on Hulu about a year ago. I still haven’t been able to shake it off.

Photography, you have always been a jealous bride. I will always love you — I’m just no longer in love.
