Yes, the Gaza blockade began after Israel pulled out and Hamas amassed weapons, built madrassas with the money they got from the Iranians and worked to further radicalize a new generation of Palestinians, all under the nose of Netanyahu and - oh! wait! the world’s most sophisticated intelligence gathering force in the Middle East, if not the entire world. But Netanyahu was content not only to turn a blind eye to the situation, but in fact, nurtured it because it served him and his coalition of right wing judeofascists with whom he made a Faustian bargain.

You want to talk about a judenrein? Look in the mirror. There are so many layers of irony here, starting with the people who for centuries were persecuted and exterminated becoming perpetrators, blinded by ideology, bigotry, and hubris. Netanyahu thought he could contain and control Hamas. I mean, who would have thought that a bunch of dumb Arabs could pull off something on that scale and magnitude - despite Israel having the world’s most sophisticated intelligence apparatus on the planet. Hey! There are thousands of fighters armed to the teeth running military drills for months. Aw, don’t worry about it, we got this. Just go back to your Sukkot celebrations.

You know, one of these days, we’re going to get the real story behind what transpired on 7 October. I’m guessing it’ll go something like this: the IDF knew something was in the works and on the morning of the attack, they were told to stand down. Of course, they had no idea just how sideways things were going to go. They just figured, Hamas and its little band of losers would lob some rockets, which would be the perfect opportunity to invade and fulfill the fundamentalists’ fantasy of mission creep to reclaim the biblical borders of Judea and the Kingdom of Israel.

If anyone is opposed to a two state solution, it’s Israel (has been for at least the past two decades). But oh well, I guess it’s a moot point now, innit?
